Cerumen Management · Earwax Removal
Our clinic is fully equipped to conduct cerumen management. Cerumen is the clinical term for earwax. Cerumen plays an essential role in the auditory system: it protects your ear from foreign objects, cleans your ear by ridding it of debris, fights off infectious bacteria, and keeps the tissue of your ear healthy and comfortable. Sometimes, cerumen can block the external auditory canal, causing discomfort, or even temporary hearing loss.
Our office is equipped with a state-of-the-art irrigation system that uses gentle pressurized water to remove earwax safely and effectively. The water is sterile and kept in a closed system with a constant temperature. This ensures that wax is safely and comfortably cleaned out without major risk of dizziness or discomfort.
Our equipment was developed by otolaryngologists & audiologists. Pressure controls ensure that the irrigation machine quickly removes even stubborn, impacted cerumen, while never endangering the ear drum.
Some individuals are not candidates for wax removal. Our audiologists will examine your ears & collect a case history from you before your cerumen management in order to ensure it is safe to proceed.
